The Service as Action project is an integral part of the MYP programme. It encourages the students to take what they learn in class beyond the classroom walls. Through Service Learning Activities the students learn new skills and also contribute positively within their community.
Our students applied their knowledge in the real life through their SA; for example, they did projects to raise awareness on social issues, such as disability, autism, discrimination, exclusion, human rights, bullying, etc.
They also made cookies and organized a flea market to collect money for charity issues.
Grade 8 students' SA Project
s part of their SA project, a group of grade 8 students of the EAS donated some clothing and school supplies to the children in the “Azerbaijan children’s public association” reintegration center in Baku. Under the supervision of their homeroom advisor Ms. Laman Aghayeva, they collected the items, sorted them out, labeled and put them into the boxes, and delivered them to the shelter for the children’s use.
Through this activity, the students aimed to raise awareness of the negative effects of discrimination, specifically of child abuse.
At the reintegration center, children presented their paper crafts.
Art from Waste: Recycling Project
Our students have transformed everyday waste into inspiring art, showcasing creativity with a purpose. Through this service-learning project, they’ve turned plastic bottles into colorful pots and woven old newspapers into beautiful baskets, each piece reflecting our dedication to sustainability. ♻️ Let’s inspire change for a greener future together! 🌎
Celebrating Autism Awareness at EAS
In honor of Autism Awareness Day on April 2nd, we welcomed autistic children from Birga ve Saglam İctimai Birliyi and the creative team from Mumla Candles to the European Azerbaijan School. As part of our “Service Learning” project, students joined a heartwarming masterclass where children crafted candles from natural waxes, fostering creativity, connection, and inclusion. Together, we build a stronger, more compassionate community.
Service in Action at EAS: Empowering Young Changemakers
Our Service in Action projects encourage Grade 5 and 6 students to make a difference! Arzu Pashayeva and Fatima Jafarli led an impactful project to raise awareness about food waste, while Esma Salimova and her peers crafted holiday items from recycled materials, hosting a Christmas sale to support the Children’s Reintegration Center. These projects inspire environmental care, social responsibility, teamwork, and emotional intelligence in our students—building a brighter future together.
